2021 Summer Season Update & FAQ’s
Updated: April 6, 2021
What is the status of the 2021 Summer Season?
In the spring of 2020, Corn Stock Theatre announced that we would postpone the summer season (including A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Annie, The Philadelphia Story, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Disney’s Mary Poppins) to Summer 2021. With the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers, performers, and stakeholders remaining our top priority, following the current Phase 4 guidelines established by the state of Illinois limiting outdoor seating capacity for performing arts venues to 20% of overall space capacity (this restricts our maximum audience capacity down to only 98 patrons per performance), and the limitations presented by the structural design of the tent space, we now know that transferring the original season in its entirety to this summer is not possible. As such, we will postpone this stellar line up of shows until we are able to present these titles without restrictions.
Our Re-Opening and Summer Season Committees, in conjunction with our Board of Directors and Theatre Staff, are working diligently to be able to bring back entertainment under the tent this summer with a specialty, one of a kind Summer Showcase that will align more favorably with the current mitigations established by the state of Illinois. We hope to announce this new unique line up of shows very soon, so stay tuned for more information!
Until then, we want to say thank you, to everyone who has remained committed to seeing Corn Stock Theatre sustain through these unprecedented times. We are humbled by your continued support and are excited to safely welcome you back to the Tent this summer!
I’m a permanent season passholder, do I still need to pay for the renewal of my season pass by March 31, 2021?
No. Due to the postponement of the shows originally scheduled for our 2021 Summer Season, we will not be utilizing season passes, but rather individual tickets for every patron. For THIS SUMMER ONLY, all tickets will be sold as individual tickets for all patrons. Theatre Staff will be mailing a letter with further information and details regarding your season pass(es) and ticketing options in early April 2021. We thank you for your patience right now as we work with all patrons individually to ensure satisfaction.
I’m a flex season passholder, when am I able to begin choosing my seats and performance dates for each show?
Due to the postponement of the shows originally scheduled for our 2021 Summer Season, we will not be utilizing season passes, which means Flex Season Pass holders will not choose their show nights and seats for Summer 2021.
What does this mean for tickets?
Due to the current limitation of 20% seating capacity for our audiences (98 patrons per performance) and the unpredictability of scheduling, we will not sell any new season passes for 2021, however individual tickets for our one-of-a-kind Summer Showcase (that we hope to announce very soon) will be available at a later date. Once the one-of-a-kind Summer Showcase line up has is announced, our staff will work directly with season passholders to ensure satisfaction.
I purchased/was gifted a 2020 gift certificate – what happens to its value?
All gift certificates purchased with an expiration date falling in 2020 will be able to be redeemed for the same value and the expiration date has now been updated to 2022.
